Thankyou to everyone that came and supported us on our open day on the 21st of July. You will have seen the photos in August’s Parish pump, but the August article had been written before then !

The sun shone , we welcomed old and new friends, we sold lots of our own fruit and veg and lots of tea was drunk and cake eaten !

TGP Pump

August has seen the harvesting of tomatoes, cucumbers including our round “Crystal Lemon”, runner beans, French beans and large quantities of courgettes.

We have picked our first aubergines in the last few days with hopefully more to follow in the next days and weeks. Our next harvest will be sweetcorn which have done well in the combination of sun and rain although had to be staked to stop the wind blowing them over. We do have a large amount of sweet peppers in our poly tunnels but now need a few weeks of sun to ripen.

Our crops for autumn and winter are doing well with 3 varieties of Kale, 4 varieties of Purple sprouting broccoli, Chard and Cabbages all growing well but unfortunately we have lost most of our sprout seedlings so have started again and sown more seed.

Thanks to all those in our community for their donations of tools, wood and pots and trays and an extra big thankyou to the lovely people that donated a garden shed which has enabled us to tidy and sort all our pots and trays and put everything out of the way.

Our  compost bins  have been re-located to the top of our site, please take any garden waste to the top left hand corner of  the site, we do still have a bin for kitchen waste inside our gate.

Our vegetables are available through our box scheme and also from our purple roadside stalls where you can find a variety of vegetables grown on our land with a small amount from Riverford such as lemons and limes.
